ABOUT
A Single Bound is a silent short film that tells the story of Calvin, an artistic young boy who grows tired of seeing bullying and injustice in the world around him. He sees a classmate being bullied every day, and he wants to help him, but doesn’t know that he can. Plagued with self-doubt, he doesn’t know if he has what it takes to really make a difference in the lives of those around him. But he sees the heroic icons in his life – be they his parents, public servants, or the heroes from the comics he loves – and knows he wants to follow their example. To do the right thing, or at the very least, to try. This decision to try and help, successful or not, is the first step on Calvin’s journey.
Our film isn’t about succeeding, or overcoming our personal demons and obstacles. It’s about trying. It’s about facing your doubts, your fears, and your insecurities, and pushing past them to do the job in front of you. It’s a universal idea, and one with which we strongly identify. As filmmakers getting started in the industry, we don’t know what the future holds for us. We don’t know if all our ventures will be successful, or if our art will resonate with an audience. But we do know that we’ll never answer these questions for ourselves if we don’t try. This is our first step. Whether or not it’s a success doesn’t matter as much as the fact that we’re here, taking that step, and finding out for ourselves.

Ben Passmore, Director
Ben Passmore has had an ever-growing fascination with films and what it takes to tell a good story. Since graduating from Toronto Film School, he has directed two short films and one award winning music video. He has been working in post-production for over two years now and is always looking for next project. He believes that at the heart of every great film, lies a passion to tell a story.
Maesa Djenar, Producer
Maesa Djenar is an aspiring filmmaker who moved to Toronto from Bali. Since she graduated from Toronto Film School, she has been involved in several productions as Producer, Camera Assistant and had worked with Ogilvy & Mather as Art Director. She produced EMDY, a short film which was selected to be screened at 2016 VGIK International Student Film Festival in Moscow, Russia. Her passion to tell a story through moving images drives her to pursue career in film industry.
Ari Cohen, Writer
Ari Cohen is a Toronto-based screenwriter and recent graduate from the Toronto Film School. He’s written a number of original series, covering comedy and drama, and has helped develop the New Media series Dry Time, currently in post-production. A Single Bound is his first short film.
Marko Vujicic, "Calvin"
Marko is a Canadian actor who, in spite of his mere age of 13 years old, has acted since the age of nine when he joined his older brother, Stefan, for improvisational class and immediately fell in love with acting. He joined Kamera Talent in 2014 and has since landed a role on YTV, been in numerous commercials and modeled. This year Marko starred in his first narrative film “Farm Dogs” (Ryan Thompson) and has recently been casted as a major lead in a new TV-series by MGM and Skydance. We see bright things for Marko in the future and we are excited to have Marko on board for “A Single Bound”!

Jonathan Bianco, "Joshua"
Jonathan began his career by helping his older brother study lines for commercial auditions and landing auditions on the spot as well. This led to him becoming an acting talent for Kamera Talent. This year, he landed a role for Toronto Tourism’s web-film titled "The Views Are Different Here" and did a photo shoot for Spin Master toys. Jonathan has been involved in his school's choir and keeps himself busy playing Rep Soccer for Whitby FC or playing basketball with neighborhood friends.
Scott Berman, "Bully 1"
Scott is 15 years old and a grade 10 student. He has been modeling/acting professionally for the past three years with Kamera Talent, including various commercials and print work.

Stefan Vujicic, "Bully 2"
Stefan is the oldest out of three acting siblings, his brother our lead Marko Vujicic and sister Maja Vujicic. Stefan's interest in acting began at the age of 11 when his sister went to her first audition, and landed a role on Sesame Street. Stefan decided to try it out himself and enrolled in an improvisation class to see if he would enjoy it as much as he thought. From then on, his love of acting was born. Stefan enrolled with Kamera Talent in Toronto where he landed a few roles with YTV, did voiceover work as well as modeling. Stefan's acting and modeling came to a sudden stop when he unexpectedly lost all his hair to Alopecia in September 2015. This was a very difficult and shocking time in his life but Stefan managed to get through that tough year. Stefan didn't let Alopecia stop him from achieving his goals, he was involved in ten different clubs at school , maintained his straight A's and became Valedictorian! After a break from acting, Stefan is super excited to be back and is very excited to be cast in ' A Single Bound' and we are just as excited to see his talent show through!

Our campaign is part of this low-budget film’s funding goals to ensure that we can create a finished project and showcase it to the world. You can be part of our social media campaign, chose to see the finished film before anyone else, listen to the original soundtrack and even become a producer. We invite you to take part in our world as our hero.
We are told when we are children that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, but over the years we seem to forget what that truly means. The team behind “A Single Bound” hope that this film can be part of teaching children, ages 0-99 years old, that their voice matters.
The production team is determined to tell this story that we believe represents the very core of why we became filmmakers.
